At Airville State School, we are committed to delivering a high-quality education that prepares our students for the future. We proudly implement Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum, which sets out the essential knowledge, understanding, and skills students need to learn from Prep to Year 6. It also outlines the level and quality of learning expected as students progress through their schooling years.
What is the Australian Curriculum?
The Australian Curriculum is three-dimensional. It includes:
Learning Areas – such as English, Mathematics, Science, HASS, The Arts, Technologies, HPE, and Languages
General Capabilities – such as literacy, numeracy, critical and creative thinking, personal and social capability, and more
Cross-Curriculum Priorities – including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures, Asia and Australia's Engagement with Asia, and Sustainability
Together, these dimensions reflect what the Australian community values for all young people—equipping them with the knowledge and skills to learn, contribute, and shape their world.
The curriculum is designed to prepare young Australians to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world, and to become confident, creative individuals, successful lifelong learners, and active, informed members of the community.
How We Teach at Airville
Our multi-age classrooms allow us to personalise the curriculum, meeting students at their point of need. Whether it's targeted literacy and numeracy support, hands-on science experiments, or group projects in HASS and The Arts, every student is engaged in meaningful, relevant learning.
We are guided daily by the Airville Way:
Be confident, Be respectful, Be responsible, Be positive, Be proud, and always be your best.
Sport and Physical Education
Thanks to dedicated sporting funds, we’re proud to offer a different sport each term as part of our Physical Education program. This gives students the opportunity to try new activities, build teamwork skills, and develop a lifelong love of movement and healthy living.
